You know the old saying, “If you want something done, ask a busy person to do it?” Well, Katerina Tana is one busy woman and she got this two bedroom cabana done. It is a serene, almost meditative space. I would live in it full time, so I imagine that weekend guests would feel very special here.
Tana designed the fabrics in the room, including the one on the dog bed that is reflected in a three-way mirror. I would love to see how a puppy would react upon meeting three new friends!
Across the room, she also used mirrors on the floor to reflect light back into the room.
It’s a nice detail.
The cibachrome photograph above the bed, appropriately titled Deer, Deer, Deer, was taken by Tana. The wood ceiling and white beams add warmth, texture and contrast.
I adore the quiet tones of the rug. It sets a beautiful ground for her Pavlova Daybed.
The delicate accessories on the side table in the central living area are available through Tortoise General Store.
The Munich Chandelier and vintage mirror are from Richard Taylor. The retro Noni walnut sofa, covered in Wave Weave, is also one of Tana’s designs.
The wall color in the east bedroom changes to the aptly named Borrowed Light by sponsor Farrow and Ball. The sconces are vintage and the nightstands are from Waterworks.
Tana added a contemporary twist to this room with the addition of Wing Desk by Vladimir Kagan, also through Pucci.
When I said that Tana was a busy lady, I meant it! Maybe she is best described as a renaissance woman, because in addition to her thriving design practice, she has her own line of textiles, rugs, lighting and furniture; and a newly launched line of tile in conjuction with Jeffery Court, called The Breakwater Collection.
She is an artist in every sense of the word and I found her very engaging, as well. She is creating a life for herself that most designers only dream about, and she’s doing it with style!Katerina Tana Design 1733 Abbot Kinney Blvd. Suite C Venice, CA 90291 310-305-8253 katerinatanadesign.com
