Linda Chase is a dynamic designer and shop owner with great personal style. She is ever so chic in her signature hats and designer apparel. She took on the outdoor living spaces at the Santa Barbara Design House and Gardens, and they are gorgeous. The day I was there, she flew around the property as quickly as a bird. I would need Linda’s brand of energy to accomplish everything she has. She should bottle it.
Before I show you what she did outside, I wanted to share the Parisian Studio style bedroom she created inside the house.
She mixed luxe silk draperies with matchstick blinds.
Her store, NU Vignette, is located below her design studio. The images on both her shop and business websites are as lush as her work. The sites were designed by her son, Alex. It’s obvious that talent runs very deep in this gene pool.
The bathroom is also a study in luxury.
Chase created a dressing area just outside the bathroom that an Instagram Self-Portait Artist (aka SPA and yes, they’ve given themselves a title) would die for.
I can just see them now: Snap. Turn. Snap. Turn. Snap.
The framed photos above the gilded four poster daybed are taken from the book on Renaissance art from the Louvre that Chase placed on the table between the two wing chairs. The table at the end of the bed was also an eye catcher.
I don’t know about you, but this room has perked me up. I sure could use a bottle glass of French wine, a plate of charcuterie and a couple of macarons from Ladurée about now. Preferably in Paris, of course, but it is so nice today that out on my porch would be just fine.
Thanks for the Parisian escape, Linda!
Time is running out. The show house, with proceeds benefitting the Junior League of Santa Barbara, is open today through Sunday, October 7, 2012, from 10:00 to 2:00. Advance tickets are $35.00 and are available through the Junior League and SBDHG. Tickets are also available on site for $40.00.
