Humor me. Things have been quite hectic around Chez Fine Life for the past couple of weeks. There have been more than a few changes. Some things are fresh, new and exciting, while others are not so fresh and definitely not as exciting. On the fresh and new side, thanks to one of my daughters, our collective head count has risen by one. I’d like you to meet the new addition:
|HEY, Y’ALL! I’LL BE HERE THIS FALL!|
Seriously. Is this not the best? Even though he’s spent at least half of his first couple of weeks with a tightly knitted brow (probably wondering where his dinner is and questioning the quality and speed of service), how can a kid who waves during an ultrasound be anything but fun? He is an absolutely adorable child, and I look forward to seeing who he will become!
|COLLEGE IS JUST AROUND THE BEND
(Don’t worry. It’s a closed road.)
|A MOTHER AND CHILD REUNION: MEET MY SON
*”I would not give you false hope, on that strange and mournful day…”
|SALTED CARAMEL PANNA COTTA|
It did not look like that when we finished. I love it when food becomes art, but it’s even better when it tastes like heaven. Kudos to the creative geniuses at former Top Chef contestant Arnold Myint’s ChaChah for this little gem! With it’s tonal layers and spun sugar tower, this sweetness could serve as inspiration for a color scheme, art piece or architectural element. For me, it served as birthday cake!
You know my mantra: Design is everywhere you look. I think this month was designed to slow me down a little; to recognize that life moves very fast, and to remember that it’s up to me to take the time to stop and smell the baby heads. They smell better than roses. Way better.
