Any design devotee will tell you that fashion influences interiors, and interiors influence fashion. The same holds true for graphic design, and art is at the heart of all three disciplines. Design is at it most intriguing when all these elements collide.
I read a blog post yesterday by Paul Anater, at Kitchen and Residential Design, about a trip he took to Spain and a flexible new tile product from Grespania. It reminded me of the many interesting things I’ve seen made out of tile.
Here are two examples from one of my favorite sources, Artistic Tile. They combine the best of art, fashion, and interiors to create graphic, visual beauty. Enjoy!

The challenge of making clothing out of mosaic tile is a big one. I wish I had thought of it. Tile is heavy. I’ve lifted and laid a lot of it, and I can only imagine how much these pieces must weigh. I would love to know how they managed to make the shirt look as light as a feather. These pieces may not be wearable, but they are quite beautiful.
Have you used tile in an unexpected way? If so, I would love to hear about it, and I’d like to see it too!
